and...another thought... I remember Rachel (TallyHo) talking about Tally when they first got started....they were a small group! I have no doubt that if we keep on keeping on...we'll be fine! We're here. We have fun. We'll keep going! 08/06 at 03:42 pm EDT | reply

No we can't give up!!! I lurked mostly, don't have much to say but then that's the way I am in real life too. But I do love to scrap and think that's what tally is all about. Love it here, don't know what I would do without it. So ladies let's not give up!!!

I try to check in, but I just don't have lots of time for computer stuff these days. And I'm not one to do challenges for the sake of the challenge. It has to fit into whatever I'm working on anyway.

I gotta admit, the crickets are starting to get me down, despite my natural optimistic enthusiasm. I feel like there's not much more I can do. Pinky's still never here and we don't have a design team and it just about makes me want to cry. And I NEVER cry. So boo. And on that note, maybe I'll post some more challenges. I have like 50 sketches stockpiled here, people! 08/08 at 04:09 pm EDT | reply

I think one of the things people are forgetting - is that scrap booking per se just isn't as popular anymore. Blame it on the economy, blame it on being a passing fad - what ever. When Tally started it was the boom time - it was all so exciting and new and everyone was addicted - kind of like the gold rush when people got gold fever - it was the scrapbook rush and people had scrapbook fever - but like all booms - there is ALWAYS a bust and that is what is happened. You can see that by the few scrapbook sites there are left - how so many scrapbook stores have closed and even the manufacturers are not really into it anymore as given by the decreasing number of vendors at the shows.
But as with the gold rush - there will always be some old prospectors around waiting for the next big strike. Until then us old die hards will linger and lurk - but there isn't much point trying to encourage what isn't going to be - we are not going to get a new mad rush of scrap bookers - because they just aren't out there anymore. They say 'everything that is old is new again - eventually" well maybe one day a new generation will suddenly 'find' scrapbooking and think what a cute and vintage craft it was - and start a revival and maybe then us oldies will be able to teach the young ones what it was all about. 08/10 at 09:46 am EDT | reply

Bree's right! My daughter's friends LOVE scrapbooking and they're 17 years old, so I think their age is the up-and-coming next generation. I encourage it as much as possible; in fact, I set each and every one of them up with a SMASH book and accessories just so they'll come SMASH with me. Lol! :-) Bribery works!

I'm around and lurking, though projects don't get posted or done around here much any more. I LOVE Tally, but Bree is right. I know in our area alone it's been so sad. We still hold crops every so often but it's nothing new and exciting any more. We have only one real scrapbook left and thats over an hour and half away, the others are 3+ hours away, and slowly we've seen many of them close. Between our loss of stores, our same-old-same-old and our lives it's hard to say scrapbooking is #1. I can give you a list of what gets in my way on a daily basis, like twins :), cooking, cleaning, MOTIVATION, and this silly computer that only works when it feels like. I hope Tally doesn't disappear, but when i open up tally and all i see is complaints about Tally not being busy, it's so negative and I almost feel like saying forget it, but then i think those ladies are talented I need to look for inspiration. 08/10 at 06:23 pm EDT | reply

In defense of Pinky:
She is not the owner of Tally so therefore it's NOT her responsibility to be here all the time. The owner should be the one here all the time promoting Tally, not anyone else. I want to publicly thank Pinky for all her hard efforts at keeping Tally going in spite of the [apparently silent] owner apparently being totally absent. THANKS PINKY! That all being said, now that I (a) am all moved and 90% settled and (b) now have a computer again (*yay*), I plan to be here more often! I do lurk but I need to get busy creating stuff!!! 50 | 08/13 at 04:03 pm EDT | reply

Well...for me...regardless of the "scrapbook movement" being boom or bust...I still like to scrap. I still like to play with paper. I still need inspiration. I still LOVE the concept of giving and earning points. It's a way for me to recognize & feel recognized amongst my peers. Granted, there may be fewer of us - but I've still got years & years worth of kid photos to scrap. I still need to be motivated at times. I still love reading posts from you guys! If there's only a dozen of us, or 12 dozen of us - it's all good. As long as we can pay the bills to keep the lights on. When Tally went off-line this weekend - I was heart broken. I wondered how was I going to keep in touch with you guys? How was I ever going to see Bree's beautiful zentangles & JCluvs2scrap's beautiful colorful pages and laugh at Kelly's great sense of humor?! FB is one thing, but I can say things here at Tally that I would never post on FB. Let's quit worrying about what the rest of the scrapbook world is doing. We're here. We like it here. We're going to stay & play. Let's do that and make it the best we can make it. I'm tired of hearing we can't do it because we're in a "bust market." I'm still buying stuff...I just have to look harder to find it! Now...how can we make it so the lights don't go out again? How much does it cost to keep our lights on? Anyone know? 08/13 at 05:19 pm EDT | reply

Sorry guys, I am so busy with my classes and making money with my classes to support the boys and their baseball.
I still ship orders and do that stuff, just don't know what to do really. I cannot put as much time into everything here because I have to work to support the boys and my car breaking down etc....:/ I wish I had more time...even my blog skips days... 50 | 08/13 at 05:51 pm EDT | reply

I was lurking too, then I came on yesterday and then....well we know what that felt like. I felt horrible, I tried googling everyone...found 2 people...Lizzie & Leah emailed them....such a sad thing. Then today, don't know why I tried but SURPRISE!!!! there was Tally and I thought OMG I am so relieved. I have been scrapping, it's just that time has gotten away from me. But I'm gonna go and post some things I've been working on in the gallery now. 50 | 08/13 at 09:35 pm EDT | reply

No one is blaming you Pinky. You did a wonderful job while you had the time to give to it. Totally understand that you have to do what you have to do to make money---can't live without it!!I can see on facebook how busy you are with your family and that should be your first priority. We're just saying how we miss you being on here!!!

hey everyone! i have been lurking this past week or so. i have stuff to upload but our PC crashed and you cannot upload with an iPad. Major flaw.
I don't see the industry dying, but the focus seems to have shifted to alternatives like smash books and altered arts. It has for me. I still scrap my kids, have a lot to catch up on, but mixed media seems to be booming. JMO. I like having Tally here, a place to be challenged with a variety of things, a place to have all of my work in one place, and some great friends. I don't need the store, but need a place that challenges me, and keeps up with trends by blogging more, creating more, and having a DT that inspires. 08/15 at 04:41 am EDT | reply
