I said I wouldn't, but I almost did.  I forgot what today was until I saw it posted on Facebook.  Sometimes I get so caught up in my own little world that I forget to remember these things.  It's important to remember.

One of the things I remember about this day is that our cat, Luke, found 3 abandoned new born kittens in the berry bushes behind our house.  He led us right to them.  We couldn't find the mama.  We rescued the kittens and the vet supplied us with baby kitty formula.  I sat up all night watching the horror of 9-11 on TV while I tried to save these 3 little kitties.

Unfortunately, they all died.  We named them Freedom, Liberty and Justice.

I was getting ready for work and my husband called me to tell me to turn on the TV. I did, just in time to see the airplane hit the second tower. I went to work, and spent the entire day watching the news.

My uncle was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy at the time and my grandpa was on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Constellation with him for a visitation called the Tiger Cruise, where family members can spend a few weeks cruising a circuit of the Pacific Rim on the ship.

The news came over the ship's intercom, then the ship turned all red-alert and turned around right smack dab in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and headed back to San Diego at battle speed, which is fast enough that if you spit into the wind, it's gonna come back atcha to put your eye out. My grampa said it was really something to see, the US Navy at full alert. I can only imagine.
